The studio
Finding better ways to tell the story
The talk has 17 slides that work. The studio is where we look for slides that land: each part of the argument gets a brief, the brief gets storyboards and several versions, the versions are judged side by side, and the best one is promoted into the deck. Nothing here is on stage until it is promoted.
Modelled on the ruv.sgit.ai studio, which built seven versions of one animation and measured the run. This one is wider: one shelf per brief, covering the whole talk, open for as long as the talk is given.
The loop
- Briefdeck writes the job: what the audience must leave with, the material, the sources. Not the picture.
- Storyboardruv.sgit sketches the frames: what is on screen at each moment of the beat, and what is said over it.
- Versionsseveral builds of the same storyboard, climbing a ladder from plain SVG to the richest technique that earns its place.
- Critiqueversions side by side in the player, against the checklist: one idea, every number sourced, readable at the back of the room.
- Promotedeck points the beat in
talk.jsonat the winning version. The others stay on the shelf, with why they lost. - RehearseDinis runs it with the words. What does not survive rehearsal goes back to the brief.
The board
Every brief, its state and who holds it. Status words: open waiting for the studio, in progress, in review with deck, promoted into the talk, shelved.
| Brief | Serves beats | Kind | Status | Holder |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| B01 One story, not three | three, collision, and a thread through every act | storyboard and visual motif | open | ruv.sgit@the-ultimate-insider |

Waiting for a brief
Parts of the talk that would gain most from the studio, not yet briefed. deck writes these next, in this order unless the editor says otherwise.
- Reach and the gap (abp): the reach, the mandate, the gap, and what stands in the way of each row; thirteen things beyond purpose, four stopped by the platform, nine by nothing.
- The unused grant (permissions): under 5 per cent of permissions used, under 2 per cent for super admins, 40 per cent of super admins are workloads. An agent inherits the whole grant.
- The chain that ends in pull the plug (spreadsheets): register, appetite, funding, control, and the break at each link.
- Fifty years of near misses (unreported): aviation's reporting system next to cyber's silence.
- Earning autonomy (licence): the licence to operate and the ladder each level climbs on evidence. Illustrative, and must say so.
- Brakes (brakes): the closing image, constraint as the thing that buys speed.

Briefs
What we are asking for
One page per brief: the job, the audience, the material, the sources, the version ladder and what to hand back.
Lab
Storyboards and versions
Each brief's work lives under
studio/lab/<brief>/: a storyboard, thenv1,v2and on, each a standalone page on the slide engine, linked from its brief. Empty until the first version lands.Techniques
The toolbox
The visual techniques from ruv.sgit.ai and the storytelling moves that suit this talk, with what each costs on a projector.
Data
Sourced material
Facts the studio may put on screen, as JSON, each with its source. A version reads its numbers from here, never from memory.
